How To Increase Metabolism To Lose Weight

I’m sure that everyone has heard the expression “I can’t lose weight because my metabolism is slow”.  Well it is a fact, if the metabolism is slow, you will not lose weight.  The good news is that the metabolism responds very well to your lifestyle.  And there are several simple things you can do to boost your metabolism and make your body burn fat.

In other words, you have to make some changes in your lifestyle to lose weight, usually through diet and exercise.  This means you can blame your overweight condition on external factors and losing weight rests squarely on your shoulders.

Your metabolism reacts quickly and easily to lifestyle changes.  And there some easy ways you can make your metabolism work harder and help your body burn off fat faster than you ever thought possible.  But, it takes a dedicated change in your lifestyle and most importantly time.

Here are some things you can do to increase your metabolism:

1.  Eat smaller meals with healthy snacks between meals.  Go from stuffing yourself one or two times a day to grazing all day.  It is ironic that you can increase your metabolism and make your body burn fat by increasing the number of meals you have.  This happens for two reasons.  Your avoid feeling hungry and your metabolism will be kept at a higher level.  If you don’t feel hungry, you will eat less and make your body burn fat to get the energy it needs.

2.  Eat more protein laden foods to give your metabolism a boost.  Protein comes from a wide variety of sources that include
nuts, legumes, seeds, meat, chicken, eggs, fish and dairy products. These all require the body to expend more energy through the  digestion process and as a result, your metabolism speeds up.

Consider this, by eating small portions of protein foods throughout the day (at meals and for snacks), 5 or 6 times a day, you will help your body maintain your muscle mass.   Increased muscle mass will also indirectly boost your metabolism.

3.  Exercise on a regular basis and consider using some kind of resistance training.  The goal is to increase your muscle mass, strength and endurance.  Increased muscle mass burns more fat for energy, which will make you lose weight faster.

Women should not be afraid of getting involved in a program that uses resistance exercises. There are many benefits such as increased energy, strength and endurance, that can be gained and resistance exercise will not make a woman look more masculine. The fact is, resistance training will enhance a woman’s natural feminine curves and boost the metabolism at the same time.

Think about it ladies.  Increased metabolism, weight loss, toned muscles and more energy means you get a better image and more self confidence that you know you deserve.
